Episode One - South Africa’s socio-economic rights framework and macroeconomic policy
The Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) reflects on the development of South Africa's post-apartheid Constitution and its socio-economic rights-based framework and uses this framework to assess the country's macroeconomic policy trajectory.
The episode further covers austerity and its impacts; the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR); and the findings of the latter on South Africa's current social and economic policies.
In this episode, hosted by Carilee Osborne, we hear from IEJ Director, Dr Gilad Isaacs, IEJ alum, Busi Sibeko, Mark Heywood and Professor Sandy Liebenberg.
